Plus, practically stopped dead in their tracks in putting on any new shows worth watching. Then all the cable channels got much worse about too many commercials too. Plus, they began showing tons of commercials. But the premium channels were barely worth it, as they only had 2-3 interesting new shows at most every month. We had cable TV with charter for a long time. Lots of what charter is offering there is available for free streaming online, from various sources. Others not blocked by a hill like me, or living closer to a city, could get lots more. I'm rural, plus in a bad spot, so only get around 24 channels on my free antenna.
